Description

The Touch Tablets (Sensorial Rough and Smooth Tablets) is an essential Montessori Sensorial material designed to refine tactile sensitivity and develop delicate hand control. Consisting of five matching pairs of wooden tablets topped with varying grades of sandpaper—from very fine to coarse—this material isolates the tactile sense, challenging children to grade and match textures through touch alone.

Key Benefits & Learning Outcomes

Sensory Discrimination & Tactile Memory: Refines the ability to perceive, differentiate, and sequence subtle variations in texture without relying on visual cues.

Direct Preparation for Writing: Teaches children to use a light, controlled fingertip touch, directly strengthening the light pressure control required for writing and tracing Sandpaper Letters.

Language & Vocabulary Enrichment: Expands expressive language with comparative and superlative terms (rough, rougher, roughest, coarse, fine).

Concentration & Self-Correction: Fosters deep sensory focus and self-correction, particularly when practiced with a blindfold to isolate tactile feedback.
