Description

The Seguin’s Boards 10 to 99 (commonly referred to as Seguin Board B or the Tens Boards) is a fundamental Montessori Mathematics material designed to teach sequence, numeration, and place value for numbers 10 through 99. By sliding individual single-digit number cards into fixed wooden frames printed with tens ($10, 20, 30, \dots, 90$), children physically observe how units alter tens to construct two-digit numbers.Key Benefits & Learning OutcomesTwo-Digit Numeration & Sequence: Helps children master linear counting and the logical progression of decade numbers ($10$ to $99$).Concrete-to-Abstract Place Value: Demonstrates how single digits ($1$ through $9$) replace the zero in decade symbols, showing how $40 + 3$ becomes the unified printed symbol $43$.Language & Symbol Association: Pairs the correct mathematical vocabulary (e.g., "forty-three") with its written symbol and physical representation.Pairs with Concrete Quantities: Designed to be used alongside the Bead Material for Seguin’s Ten Board (45 Golden Ten Bars and loose unit beads or short bead stair), linking physical bead amounts directly with the sliding numeral cards.Design & MaterialsIncluded Components:2 Wooden Frames: Long slotted hardwood boards divided into 9 sections printed with decade multiples in increments of 10 ($10, 20, 30, 40, 50$ on the first board; $60, 70, 80, 90$ on the second).9 Wooden Numeral Cards: Single-digit tiles printed with numbers 1 through 9 engineered to slide smoothly into tracks over the zero of each decade entry.1 Wooden Storage Box: Compartmentalized wooden container designed to keep frames and digit tiles organized.Material: Smooth natural hardwood finished with durable, non-toxic sealants and high-contrast printed numerals.Features: Built-in side tracks guide the unit tiles directly over the zero position for exact spatial alignment during floor-mat or tabletop work.
